The most recent data breach is hitting one of the largest social media monsters. Facebook announced at least 50 million profiles were hacked.

Cyber Security expert and CEO of Trustifi, Idan Edry, explains there are a few ways to find out right now if your account was compromised.

Edry suggests you take the following steps to check your account:

To know if you were immediately affected, you will have been logged out on Facebook. Users can logon to their Facebook and go to your account’s security and login page, which lets you see where you have logged in. If you had your access tokens revoked and have to login again, you’ll be able to see exactly where your account has been logged in from.

"The same way you protect your social security...your email needs to be protected," Edry said.

If you believe your account was hacked take the following steps to protect yourself.

  1. Change your Facebook password

  2. Log out of any apps that you may have used your Facebook to log into.

  3. To prevent a future hack you should double check what information your sharing and who you're sharing it with.
