LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Heather and Ryan began the adoption process with Loving Hearts in the spring of 2018.

The application process was done by fall.

"There were parenting classes and background checks and fingerprints. Mammama."

There was the home inspection and then the most difficult part - the wait.

"We knew it would be a long journey but they walked with us step by step and this was the outcome."

Kelsee Drew is the director of adoptions at Loving Hearts. She was the one taking Heather's phone calls on the days the wait felt like forever.

"I just remember those days she would call me like 'did you forget about me? Do we have a baby yet? What's the update? As soon as we got the call from the birth mom that we had a baby, it was a baby girl. And I just knew that was going to be perfect."

A year passed before the baby arrived.

But as any expectant parent would say, the baby is always worth the wait.

And that goes for the new big brother Nehemiah too.

"I've never had a sibling before so I'm really excited to see her grow up and be a big brother."
