UPDATE: The Clark County's Marriage License Bureau issued the 5,000th marriage license to Ronald bauman and Dumitru Alexeev of Phoenix, Arizona, on Dec. 31. They plan to get married on Jan. 1.

The countdown is on for the Clark County Clerk’s Marriage License Bureau in Las Vegas to issue the 5,000th marriage license to a same-sex couple.
As of 9 a.m. Friday, they were at 4,980 with 20 to go.
The lucky 5,000th couple will receive some congratulatory gifts from the local wedding and hospitality industry.
