UPDATE AUG. 7: A pest service has laid some traps around the home to evaluate the infestation. They will return next Monday to see what they've trapped and what's the best method to get rid of them.

ORIGINAL STORY

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- A Las Vegas woman says she is being attacked by microscopic bugs, and no matter how hard she tries she can't get rid of them.

"There must have been two or three hundred of these little creatures," Audrey Kelley said. "I thought they were just dust, but then I sat in the bath and saw they were moving."

It wasn't until two weeks later that Kelley realized the extent of the problem.

"I had a total of 12 sores. My neck, my shoulders, my ankles," Kelley said.

A month later, those wounds are still healing and Kelley says she thinks she has identified the pests as mites.

"They are tiny little things," Kelley said.

She has tried her own remedies, including sprays, powders and lavender.

Kelley had also called exterminators asking for help.

"He didn't really seem to know much about mites," Kelley said.

That's when she reached out to 13 Action News.

A pest control company we reached out to said biting mites are not a common problem in Las Vegas, but they see occasional cases.

The manager spent about ten minutes on the phone with Kelley, explaining they can't diagnose the problem over the phone.

They are planning to check out the problem Monday.

If they can’t identify the bugs Kelley has collected themselves, the company said they will be able to send the samples to Carson City for further testing.
