An inmate from Clark County died earlier this week at a Nevada prison.
The Nevada Department of Corrections reports that on Tuesday around 6 a.m., 84-year-old Homer Burton died at Northern Nevada Correctional Center in the Regional Medical Center in Carson City.
Burton was committed from Clark County on Aug. 17, 1995 and was serving 5 years to life with the possibility of parole for sexual assault.
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office coroner responded and an autopsy is being scheduled.
After an exhaustive search, the Department of Corrections was unable to contact or notify next of kin and is asking the public for assistance. Anyone who knows a member of this inmate’s family, please call 775-887-3309.
