A check of traffic cameras near the Nevada-California state line shortly before 11 a.m. showed very heavy traffic.
Vehicles are currently averaging speeds between 11 and 22 mph and traffic is stop and go between Slon Road (Exit 25) and Underpass Road (Exit 1).
Traffic is expected to remain heavy throughout the day as thousands of people head home to California after spending Memorial Day Weekend in Las Vegas.
More than 300,000 people total were in the city over the weekend.
