LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A Las Vegas man who served 25 years in prison for a murder he didn't commit is sharing his experience with others.
Frank LaPena spoke at the Mob Museum yesterday.
He was convicted of hiring a hitman to murder the wife of a Caesars Palace executive back in 1974.
The story turned out not to be true and the actual killer only served 5 years in prison.
Lapena was released in 2005 and officially pardoned by the state last year.
"Every minute, every second I spent in there," he said of his prison experience. "And then nothing. I had nothing to do with it and the suffering I had to go through."
Lapena called his case the worst case of governmental misconduct in the state's history.
