Former Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a multiple-vehicle crash Friday night.

Collins, whose legal name is Clarence Weldon Collins, was arrested at the intersection of Koval Lane and Flamingo Road around 7 p.m. for DUI above the legal limit, according to booking logs.

Prosecutor Brian Rutledge told the Associated Press Monday that charges weren't immediately filed against the 65-year-old, pending receipt of blood-alcohol test results and a police report in the case. Collins has a Jan. 11 court date.

In 2012, Collins was charged with two misdemeanors on the Fourth of July for firing his pistol on his North Las Vegas property. Collins reportedly told police he was mad at a tree and admitted he was drunk at the time.

Collins resigned from the Clark County Commission in August, citing family matters. He didn't release additional information concerning his resignation.

Marilyn Kirkpatrick was selected as his replacement for Commission District B.
