Four women are opening the first all-female-owned medical marijuana dispensary in Las Vegas.
Sahara Wellness is a brand-new facility that will be up and running next week. They held a grand opening Saturday and open to patients Monday.
The owners say they will bring a female compassion to the industry that some of their male counterparts may not be able to offer.
"Our main goal is to have the patients...make sure they feel comfortable in our dispensary," said Brenda Gunsallus, one of the co-owners.
Gunsallus has never smoked marijuana in her life. Now, it is her life.
"We all wanted to be in an industry that we felt like was very beneficial for people," she said.
The dispensary's address is 420 Sahara Ave. That number will evoke a wink and a smile from anyone who knows that "420" signifies cannabis culture.
Gunsallus says it's just a coincidence, and the owners had to use Google to find out what "420" meant.
She and her partners are embracing the culture and the responsibility they feel toward educating people about what they have to offer.
"I never want anybody to come in here and feel ashamed to buy a medicine that they need," Gunsallus said.
Sahara Wellness will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday at, you guessed it, 4:20 p.m.
