A vacant home caught fire on the east side of the valley early Monday morning.

The fire occurred around 2 a.m. at a house in the 4900 block of Idaho Avenue, near Charleston and Nellis boulevards. Both the Clark County Fire Department and Las Vegas Fire and Rescue responded.

Investigators said it may have been started by squatters and that police have responded to the home several times in the past.

A neighbor said he's seen people coming and going from house.

"For the last three days I noticed that there was smoke coming out of the smokestack," said Willie Chambers. "I thought somebody lived there."

The fire is under investigation and cost for damages have not been determined yet. There have been no injuries reported.
