A family is recovering after a fire destroyed their home in the 7800 block of Via Mazarron Street on Wednesday.

Fire investigators with Clark County say the fire started in the garage and spread.

The homeowner Joe Siquian tells 13 Action News he heard the smoke detector going off.

"I went into the garage and couldn't see a thing," he said. "We just got everyone out. The fire moved so fast."

The family of four lost two vehicles in the blaze and the contents of their home. Amazingly, Joe's wife Mirjana says despite a roof collapse, a firefighter was able to find her wedding ring.

"I didn't have it on my hand," she said. "It was a miracle that he found it. "They found my purse with my wallet in it. Didn't have anything. No ID, no debit card, credit card. It's like your whole identity is lost.

Mirjana, who's been married for more than a decade, says the ring was found in a small space created by the roof collapse.

The fire remains under investigation. In the meantime, neighbors are helping the family with essential items like food and basic clothing.

"We already started up a GoFundMe account for them," said Christopher Demery. "We have the items to take care of him. You name it, we have it. We take care of everybody."

Demery and his wife have set up a GoFundMe account in the family's honor.
