A family of seven was displaced after their home caught fire near Charleston Boulevard and Nellis Boulevard Tuesday morning.

All four children, one parent, and both grandparents were able to escape the flames without injuries.

Fire crews say the majority of the smoke and flames were coming from a room in the back of the home.

The family is now staying with a generous neighbor across the street, who says she immediately brought them inside when she saw all of them out in the cold.

"I looked out and they were sitting right there on the street," says Gail Miotke, the woman who took them in.  "I told them come on, come in my house, it's too cold, and so I took them in."

The family also had several animals inside the home at the time of the fire, including a dog, cats, kittens, and turtles. 13 Action News was there when firefighters were able to reunite 10-year-old Summer with her pet turtles.

"I was happy because I've had them since I was a baby," says Summer.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
