UPDATE: Paula Kachmarik told police someone was threatening her and said she was going to be dead if she didn't hurt her brother and mother.

According to her arrest report, Kachmarik then went into her parents' bedroom early Monday morning where her mother was shooting and started shooting. Police said Kachmarik's father woke up and grabbed the gun before the suspect called police herself.

She told police that she wasn't shooting to kill.

When asked where she got the gun used in the shooting, Kachmarik told the police, "crips, bloods." She later told police she purchased it for $300.

Police asked what medication Kachmarik was taking. According to the arrest report, Kachmarik said she was on Zoloft and Xanax after losing her days old daughter.

She told police that she had received threatening messages ahead of the shooting, including one message that named her deceased daughter. Kachmarik did not say who was threatening her.

ORIGINAL STORY

Kachmarik is now facing attempted murder charges.

Mother's Day ends in violence inside one Las Vegas home.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrested Paula Kachmerik for allegedly shooting her mother.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. Monday near McLeod Drive and Hacienda Avenue.

"It's a shock, cause you know, we're an all American family, you know, we're just going to take it one day at a time," said Robert Kachmerik, Paula's father and the victim's husband.

As for why this happened, Robert Kachmerik said he has no idea.

"We were home, we were all home, I don't know, there were no arguments nothing."

Neighbors are just as stunned by the violence. They say it's a quiet area and for the most part a quiet family.

"I was very surprised because this is a very quiet neighborhood, you hear the birds chirping, that's about it," said neighbor, Angelo Disalvo. "To find out what happened was very shocking."

But neighbors say the daughter, Paula, has been acting strange lately. And they say the family recently endured a tragedy.

"Her behavior lately was very erratic. For example she cleaned the cement in front of my house, although she's not suppose to clean here," said Larissa Volkanskani-Wilde. "It was a little bit like if she lost her mind."

Paula Kachmerik is facing charges for attempted murder and domestic battery.
