A family escaped a house fire at 4000 East Ogden Avenue around midnight Saturday.

Two teen brothers, an adult sister and her toddler were asleep in the house when the fire started in the garage. The mother of the family arrived home from work and spotted smoke. She ran inside the house and warned her family to leave.

One of the teens ran to the door leading to the garage to let out a dog, which was sleeping in the garage. The teen says he spotted fire around the dryer in the garage when he opened the door. All family members and two pet dogs escaped without injury.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control quickly, though the garage was completely gutted by the flames. Minor damage was also spotted inside the home. Damage was estimated at $50,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
