NORTH LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A family has lost everything just days before Christmas after a fire ripped through their North Las Vegas home.

The blaze occurred around 3 a.m. Thursday as Jacqueline Nkwanga and her family were sleeping before her son noticed the smoke and woke everyone up.

Luckily, they were all able to make it out safely through the garage.

However, the family lost everything inside the property.

The North Las Vegas Fire Department estimated $100,000 in damages was caused by the fire.

Nkwanga said she had a full house including kids, grandkids, foster kids, an African exchange and a few relatives inside when the fire erupted.

"We could have been dead, but God spared us," Nkwanga said. "He spared 11 lives this morning."

However, it might be a tough Christmas for her children, according to Nkwanga. As all of the wrapped presents were burned along with the Christmas tree.

"I feel just incomplete right now," Nkwanga said. "The kids ask me what are we gonna do about Christmas now."

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but crews have ruled out arson.

In the meantime, the family has set up a GoFundMepage for assistance after the incident.
