LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — On the night of 6he American Music Awards, a music business expert weighs in on the ever-changing music industry.
“It’s one of those things you daydream about when you're going from city to city in a van,” says Alex Knight.
Knight is the course director of artist management at Full Sail University and knows the ins and outs of the music industry.
“It's definitely a different world than it was 10 or 15 years ago,” says Knight.
One of those differences challenging today's artists Knight says is sales.
“Their focus used to be on albums a lot more than it is now."
Knight says music sales revenues just simply are not in favor of artists anymore.
“I think that's why a lot of artists have shifted to lets put out a single and stay on the road," says Knight.
