Two Nevada get-out-the-vote volunteers say they found a woman who'd been trapped in her apartment for two weeks after a fall.

Lisa Fabish and Caryn Wiseman told the Reno Gazette-Journal on Tuesday that the Sparks woman had to drink from the toilet to survive and her pet bird died because she couldn't feed it.

The volunteers say they were out knocking on doors at an apartment complex when they heard screaming. The woman crawled to the door to open it.

They called 911, then dropped off a rent check because she was worried it would be late.

Washoe County Democratic Party volunteer Nancy Hoffman said the party worked to get an absentee ballot to the hospital so she could vote for Hillary Clinton.
