Earthquakes rattle Nevada desert between Tonopah, Hawthorne

NEVADA (KTNV) — The U.S. Geological Survey has reported several earthquakes to strike in the Nevada desert Tuesday evening.

The largest quake was a 4.4 magnitude shaker that struck outside of Mina, Nev., between Tonopah and Hawthorne, at about 8:55 p.m., according to the USGS.

EARLIER: Earthquake felt in Reno

Another quake hit that same area about an hour before with a 3.6 magnitude. A 2.7 and consecutive 2.5 and 2.5 magnitude earthquakes were also reported at the same location starting at 7:22 p.m.

Back in June, that same vicinity was subject to a 4.9 magnitude quake along with a 6.5 earthquake in May.
