A dumpster fire spread to a strip mall on the east side of the valley Tuesday evening.
The fire started around 5:23 p.m. in the 4800 block of Nellis Boulevard, near Tropicana Avenue.
The fire extended into the attic space of the structure from the dumpster making it difficult to locate and extinguish but eventually Clark County firefighters got the blaze under control.
According to the fire department, there have been issues at this location in the past due to a small group of homeless people who frequently stay behind the building; however, the cause of this fire is still under investigation. Damage has been estimated at $75,000.
