A driver is dead after a crash around 1:30 a.m. Friday near Pecos Road and Owens.

According to initial reports, the driver was going too fast during a turn onto Pecos Road and drove onto a raised sidewalk and then into a pole.

A clerk at a nearby 7-Eleven attempted to help the driver.

The driver was pronounced dead at a local hospital. He was identified as 20-year-old Kristho Garcia, of North Las Vegas. He died of multiple blunt force injuries due to the crash.

The intersection was closed for several hours to clear the scene, but reopened shortly after 5 a.m.

Part of the interview I did with the seven eleven clerk who tried to save a man's life. He heard a loud crash out at Owens and pecos and jumped into action.
