At 7:37 p.m. on Jan. 14, the Clark County Fire Department responded to a fire at 764 East Twain Avenue, near Swenson Street. The fire began in building 23 of the Pinewood Cross apartment complex.
Firefighters found a ground level apartment with heavy fire and smoke and quickly evacuated all apartments in the building. The fire was extinguished quickly and contained to just one apartment.
A dog was found deceased in the fire apartment but no other injuries were reported.
All apartments in building 23 have been reoccupied. Damage is estimated at $40,000 and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
