The Nevada Desert Experience hosted its annual Sacred Peace Walk Sunday.

It's a 60-mile pilgrimage that starts at the Atomic Testing Museum on Flamingo Road and Swenson Street, then to the Department of Energy and Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, before heading north toward Reno.

"Our first stop is the museum to bring focus to what atomic energy has done to this world, not only Hiroshima," said Darcy Leothiha.

Participants are working to raise awareness of caring for the environment and promoting non-violent social change. Non-violent demonstrations will take place at the Creech Air Force Base in Indian Springs and the Nevada National Security Site near Mercury.
