LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Hundreds gathered inside the Bellagio Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip for the First In The West event, bringing together over a dozen democratic presidential hopefuls on one stage.

“What's up Battle Born Democrats?” asked Senator Kamala Harris.

Topics discussed by candidates included climate control, healthcare and the middle class.

“When you see a government that works great for those who are rich and have money and connections and doesn't work for much of anyone else, that is corruption pure and simple and we need to call it for what it is,” said Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Former Vice President Joe Biden called for big changes in education with a focus on Title 1 schools.

“Raisng the salaries of our teachers to 60 thousand bucks so they stay,” said Biden.

Each candidate took jabs at President Donald Trump during the event.

“This is a fight to end that national nightmare called Donald Trump,” says Harris.

Nevada will be the first western state and the third in the nation to make its voice heard in the 2020 democratic presidential primary.
