A growing fleet of for-profit helicopter ambulance companies is credited with saving thousands of lives.
But an ABC News Brian Ross investigation conducted with 13 Action News Chief Investigator Darcy Spears and ABC stations across the country has found the flights of mercy have also left many of the very people they saved facing law suits, debt collectors and financial ruin.
