UPDATE: Habitual offender arrested after taking off before sentencing

UPDATE APRIL 24: Elmer Jones has been arrested, according to the Clark County District Attorney's Office.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- The District Attorney's Office is asking for your help tracking down a habitual offender who pleaded guilty to several felony charges, then took off before he was sentenced.

53-year-old Elmer Jones was arrested during a Las Vegas police drug raid at the Siegel Suites near Swenson Street and Desert Inn Road. He later pleaded guilty to two counts of being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.

District Attorney Steve Wolfson says it was Jones' ninth prior felony conviction, which is why he wants Jones off the streets.

"This is the kind of guy who will get in more trouble, I'm convinced," said Wolfson, "and when you have guns and drugs, it could result in a homicide."

If you have information on Jones' whereabouts, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555. You don't have to give your name, and you could be eligible for a cash reward.
