LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Homicide detectives were investigating in northeast Las Vegas on Friday morning after an 18-year-old was shot and killed, police said.

Investigators were in the 3900 block of Las Vegas Boulevard North, between Nellis and Lamb boulevards.

Lt. Dave Valenta said the 18-year-old was shot inside a mobile home shortly after 8 a.m. and declared dead at the scene.

Based on a preliminary investigation, police believe two shots were fired from a shotgun, and at least one of those hit the teen.

At least one person had been detained for questioning, and police were talking to the victim's family and other witnesses, Valenta said. He declined to give any details about the person police were questioning.

Police believe the teen lived at the trailer where he was shot. Detectives were interviewing a family member and "still trying to piece everything together," Valenta said.
