UPDATE: Child found safe after North Las Vegas police sought mother accused of abducting son

UPDATE JUNE 21: North Las Vegas police say 3-week-old Benjamin Quintero, reported missing yesterday, has been found and is safe. The North Las Vegas Police Department thanks the community for their assistance.

ORIGINAL STORY
NORTH LAS VEGAS (KTNV)-- On June 19 at about 10 p.m., the North Las Vegas Police Department was notified that Benjamin Quintero (3-weeks-old) was abducted at his grandmothers house near Azure and Lamb Boulevard by his mother, 32-year-old Nyeisha Barrett.

Police say that Barrett lost custody of the infant when he was born due to narcotics-related reasons.

The infants' grandmother was granted custody by the state but Barrett was able to have visitations

Barrett visited her mother last night and police say when her mother was distracted, she left with the infant without permission.

Barrett is described as an African American female, about 5-feet 2-inches tall, 120 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen wearing a red shirt with red pants and red shoes.

She has a tattoo of blessed written on her chest and police say she is known to be addicted to methamphetamine.

All hospitals are asked to check their registries for Barrett and or Quintero or any John Doe matching the above description and to notify the police immediately if found. It should be noted that HIPAA permits disclosure upon request to Law Enforcement, and is authorized pursuant, 45 C.F.R. section 154.512.
