A Secure Life has released its list of states with the most and fewest break-ins. Unfortunately, Nevada placed in the top 10 for most break-ins.

The company says it based its lists on burglary statistics from 2017 provided by the FBI.

According to their analysis, New York state topped the list with fewest break-ins per 100,000 residents. A Secure Life says this may be because the bulk of New York's population live in urban settings with a lot of high rises and apartment buildings, which are much less conducive to break-ins than houses on larger pieces of property.

States in the South seem to have the highest rates of break-ins. Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama all rank in the top 10 states for burglaries. The higher rate of break-ins could have to do with lower population density, according to the report.
