A mom is speaking out months after her 21-year-old daughter was found dead in her apartment, hoping for a break in the case.

Sydney Land and Nehemiah Kauffman were shot at their apartment near Hualapai and Peace ways in October.

Connie Land says that October day is seared into her mind.

"He goes mom, I need to call you back, and he said her friends hadn't heard from her," she said.

Connie Land went to the apartment, hoping and praying that her daughter wasn't home. But then she got the news.

"She's dead isn't she?" Connie Land recalled. "And he goes yeah. She's gone mom."

Connie Land says her daughter is still with her.

"The feeling will be overwhelming or you'll feel this rush or tingling I don't know how to describe it," she said. "It's like this enveloping love."

Months later, those who killed her daughter have not have been caught.

"It's very difficult because I know there are people out there who know who did this," Connie Land said.

But the Land family has become stronger as they wait for a break in the case.

Sydney's family and friends say she had a loving, calming presence and was never judgmental.

"There's very few people that you come across in your life that are like her," Connie Land said.

In addition to pushing for new leads, the family wants to honor Sydney's memory.

Police have not released any information regarding a motive or suspects. But evidence at the scene indicates there are two suspects.
