Man shoots at carjacker near Nellis, Washington

Officers say a man pulled into a gas station at 251 North Nellis Boulevard, near Washington Avenue, around 9:56 p.m. last night.

The man left his door open and engine running while he briefly got out of his vehicle to throw away some trash. When he returned to his vehicle he noticed a man sitting in the driver's seat.

The man in the driver's seat pulled out a gun and the car owner, who's a concealed weapons carrier, did the same. The car owner fired several shots at the carjacker before running away from the scene.

The carjacker left the gas station in the man's 2015 white Ford vehicle.

Police are still searching for the carjacker and the car owner suffered minor injuries from a fall he suffered as he was running away from the scene.
