Nye County Sheriff Office Deputies arrested 23-year-old Jon Turner on kidnapping, sexual assault, and battery charges on November 2.

Around 8:21 p.m. a citizen reported that a woman was injured after she got into a fight with a man at a local motel in Beatty.

Upon arrival, deputies located the 25-year-old victim. She told officers that her boyfriend, Jon Turner, began beating and choking her until she fell unconscious on a nearby street.

When she regained consciousness, Turner reportedly took her to a local motel room where they had been staying and handcuffed her to some furniture. The woman told police that Turner continued to beat and choke her, eventually injuring her with a hatchet.

The woman was able to free herself during the attack and fled from the room to the motel's office to request help.

Detectives found out that both Turner and the victim had been reported missing from New York since August 25, 2017. The victim met Turner online weeks earlier, and the two began dating. But Turner reportedly forced the victim to leave New York and threatened to kill her if she refused.

As the two crossed the country, the victim's vehicle was abandoned and located by authorities in the Big Bear area of California. Her family couldn't find her because Turner was isolating her and she had no way to make a phone call home to her family.

Turner and the victim also spent time in Las Vegas before traveling to Beatty. According to the victim, Turner sexually assaulted her about two weeks before they arrived in Beatty.

The victim was taken to a hospital in Las Vegas, and Turner was booked into the Nye County Detention Center in Pahrump. He is being held on $275,000 cash or bond.
