UPDATE: Suspect killed in shooting with police in Laughlin identified

SEPT. 24 UPDATE: The Clark County Coroner's office identified the man killed in the Laughlin shooting involving officers as 69-year-old Michael Todd Lopez from Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

AUG. 21 UPDATE: The two Las Vegas police officers involved in the recent fatal shooting of an alleged thief in Laughlin have been identified.

They are 52-year-old Officer Cory Mikkelson and 42-year-old Officer John Susich.

Mikkelson has been with the department since August 1994 and Susich has been with the department since March 2006.

Both officers are assigned to the Special Weapons and Tactics Bureau. Both have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this incident.

12:30 P.M. UPDATE: The Las Vegas police department has confirmed that the shooting was fatal. Police say that despite an attempt to bring the situation to a non-violent end, the robbery suspect exited his vehicle and pointed his gun at officers. The robbery suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. No police officers were injured in the incident.

Las Vegas police are on the scene of a shooting in Laughlin involving police officers.

It all began with a casino cage robbery at the Aquarius Casino Resort on Casino Drive in Laughlin.

Security guards told police that the robbery suspect fired at them as he was running away.

Police were able to trap him in a vehicle and SWAT was called in.

The suspected was shot at least once around 7:40 a.m. His condition is unknown at this time.

The incident began around 1:30 a.m.
