On Feb. 21, a Clark County Detention Center inmate alleged that he was beaten inside of his cell by two Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department corrections officers during the night.

The inmate’s allegation was reviewed by a supervisor and forwarded to the Internal Affairs Bureau.

The two corrections officers involved were relieved of duty the same day.

The investigation by the LVMPD’s Criminal Investigative Section indicated Officer Nicholas Diaz had a verbal altercation with an inmate while standing outside of a cell.

Officer Diaz walked away from the cell and returned shortly after with Officer Eduardo Bueno.

On Feb. 28, Diaz and Bueno were arrested for the following charges:

• Oppression with Force (Felony),
• Conspiracy to Commit Oppression with Force (Gross Misdemeanor)
• Battery (Misdemeanor)

Corrections Officer Diaz is 23 years old and has been employed with the LVMPD since 2018.

Corrections Officer Eduardo Bueno is 28 years old and has been with the LVMPD since 2018.

Both officers will be relieved of duty without pay pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings. PO 034 02-28-19 LH
