LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Clark County commissioners unanimously approved a moratorium on new recreational marijuana dispensaries.

The decision won't impact any current dispensaries as currently there are 26 licensed dispensaries in the county and eight in the City of Las Vegas.

Commissioner Susan Brager criticized the marijuana industry for focusing more on recreational marijuana sales than on the medicinal aspect.

"It's not how businesses should be run, if there's no consistency, there are no real rules," Brager said.

Some are concerned the decision will leave current applications for licenses in limbo.

Incoming commissioner Tick Segerblom, a champion of the state's marijuana law, says he hopes the decision will be overturned.

Segerblom also wants to see the county focus on the next frontier, which he says will be allowing more businesses where people can consume marijuana - like yoga studios, lounges, and massage parlors.
