The national debate on gun control continues after the Florida high school shooting, but it may be weeks or months before lawmakers can work through any new ideas everyone can agree on.

For now, the focus will turn to safety and what you can do to keep you and your family safe.

The CRI Counter Terrorism Training School teaches people to fight back against terrorist and active shooters.

Owner and former Israeli Special Forces fighter Doron Benbenisty believes in the motto run, hide and fight. He said people are already trained to run and hide, but many times they aren't sure what to do if they are left to fight.

Benbenisty said there are ways to quickly stop a gun from firing if caught in the situation.

Benbenisty also suggests people team up to tackle the shooter or turn nearby objects, like scissors or box cutters, into weapons.

He also suggests people learn first-aid or buy tourniquets, which can help stop the bleeding of major wounds.

The CRI Counter Terrorism Training School hosts several different training sessions at their facility, including what to do in a home invasion or terrorist attack.
