Starting today, Phamatech Laboratory and Diagnostics, Inc. (Phamatech), is offering its COVID-19 testing services to the general public in Las Vegas. The testing services are available by appointment, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Phamatech’s local testing center at 546 North Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89101.
“Since the launch of our mobile testing program for businesses in July, we have received an overwhelmingly positive response. We are currently working with popular hotel groups and gaming companies in Las Vegas for testing their employees, leading many to ask us to expand our testing to allow their families and the public to get tested through Phamatech,” said Dr. Thomas Aucoin, Vice President at Phamatech.
Sample collection procedures take about 15 minutes and test results will be shared within 2 to 3 business days. The testing center is wheelchair accessible and has bilingual staff to assist the individuals. Enrollees are required to fill in an online registration form at https://www.phamatechlasvegas.com/ and pay-in-advance when scheduling. Medicare and Medicaid insurance holders may also qualify for free testing.
“There remains a huge shortage of testing locations and a major lag in test results in the region. By offering our testing services, we hope to support the community’s need for increased local testing and to help contain the spread of the virus by making the results available within 72 hours, which is definitely beneficial for the travelers, college students, and frontline workers who need to prove they are illness-free and of course people experiencing symptoms,” added Dr. Aucoin.
Phamatech is offering two types of tests. Nucleic acid test (by high-throughput PCR), priced at $120, is a molecular test that determines if someone is currently infected with the coronavirus. The test will be performed by a Phamatech laboratory technician using the FDA EUA authorized Thermofisher PCR method using a nasal swab sample. The antibody tests, priced at $95, will determine if someone has previously had the coronavirus, and will be performed using the FDA EUA authorized Roche Analyzer using a blood draw taken by Phamatech’s certified phlebotomists.
Individuals can choose to take both the tests as a package for $195, which can provide the most comprehensive picture of past and current exposure to the virus.
Phamatech, a CLIA licensed laboratory since 2008, has been manufacturing diagnostic products for over 25 years and has over 100 FDA approved tests.
