LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The American Academy of Pediatrics is encouraging young athletes to wear face masks during competitions.
There are some exceptions where it could be a hazard such as cheerleading, gymnastics, wrestling and swimming.
One allergy and asthma doctor says many parents are concerned children with asthma cannot breathe with a mask on.
In a non-scientific experiment, the doctor, who has asthma himself, decided to measure his oxygen with and without a mask.
He said that any reading above 95% is ideal, and his oxygen level was identical with and without a mask.
If your child plays sports and has asthma or has difficulty breathing in a mask reach out to your doctor.
