Department of Justice awards Nevada with $11M COVID fund

U.S. Attorney Nicholas A. Trutanich for the District of Nevada announced today that the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs has awarded nearly $11.6 million in grant funding to Nevada, including the City of Las Vegas, City of Reno, and Nevada Department of Public Safety.

The funding will help Nevada respond to public safety challenges posed by COVID-19, including assisting agencies with meeting the needs of their officers and communities.

The grants were recently awarded as part of the $850 million available under the Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding program, authorized by the recent stimulus legislation signed by President Trump.

This program allowed eligible state, local and tribal governments to apply for funding.
