Businesses could face a new threat if they don't take proper precautions to protect their employees from COVID-19. If they don't take adequate safety measures and an employee's family member gets sick, they can be slapped with a Take Home lawsuit.
Attorney Laura Lawless says this type of lawsuit has been used for years with asbestos.
Lawless says she doesn't expect there to be an overwhelming number of Take Home cases because its hard to prove where someone was exposed.
Right now, one man in Illinois filed a Take Home lawsuit against the meatpacking plant he works for.
He claims he brought home the virus to his wife and she died from it. The plant is accused of failing to stop the spread.
