A leading Nevada lawmaker says he has delayed a committee vote on a wide-ranging criminal justice reform bill that seeks to curb the state's expanding prison population.

The Thursday vote was postponed after dozens of proposed changes to the bill were revealed earlier this week.

Assemblyman Steve Yeager heads the legislative panel considering the omnibus legislation and says he canceled the Thursday committee meeting and now plans for a vote on the measure next week.

The Democratic lawmaker says he is continuing to work on the bill with "critical stakeholders and committee members to make it the best piece of legislation possible."

Some bill changes roll back a push in the original bill to lessen jail time for crimes such as theft and ex-felons in possession of a weapon.
