Clark County is working to clear up any confusion about marijuana possession at McCarran Airport.

They tell us if TSA finds marijuana, they'll call over the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to weigh it. If it's under an ounce, they'll hand it back to the passenger. Otherwise, the passenger can face criminal charges.

And regardless of that amount, passengers will face federal charges if they're caught with marijuana on the plane.

County commissioners are considering an ordinance to make it illegal to possess marijuana on any airport property in Clark County. That would help bring McCarran into compliance with federal regulations.

There will be a public hearing on the issue scheduled for August 1.
