Clark County School District Police say that multiple fights took place at Basic High School on Thursday.

CCSD officers say that six people were detained and two were given citations after the fights.

13 Action News was contacted by multiple parents concerned for their children's safety.  Students say at least three fights broke out within minutes in the quad area of campus.

Cell phone video showed chaotic moments as students scrambled to get out of the way.

"I saw this guy being handcuffed and like flung right next to me," said Alexa McDonald.

Twins Alexa and Eliza McDonald were just two of the students caught in the middle of mayhem.

"All of a sudden you just hear people start yelling and joining up together," said Eliza McDonald, "..I was just trying to get to class."

Henderson police had extra patrol units at the high school to provide support for CCSD police.

Students don't know what sparked these incidents.

Alexa says a fight on grounds isn't uncommon.

"Last week, we had like one every day," she said.

Melissa McDonald, a mother, is hoping parents of the children involved in the incidents get proactive. She has also asked her own daughters to not record these incidents in the future.

"I actually got really mad at my daughters for even recording them," she said, "I think they're part of the problem."
