LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — CES gets underway in Las Vegas on Jan. 8. The largest electronics show in the world will feature many new products and technologies.

The big story this year is just how much tech companies are partnering with each other.

5G wireless is also in the spotlight and will effect everything from smartphones to self-driving cars.

But don't expect to see many of the new products at CES in the real world anytime soon.

Instead, the show and its products provide sort of a road map to the future. Many of the products won't be available to the general public for at least a couple of years.

Speaking of the general public, they are not allowed into the show. It is only open to industry professionals. More than 180,000 people are attending this year's CES, which will have more than 4,500 exhibits.
