Backups on I-15 create messy morning commute

A backup on the I-15 created a messy commute for thousands of drivers, and caught many of them off guard.

At one point, the 15 was backed up all the way between Charleston and Cheyenne for miles. The reason was because the freeway went down to one lane as part of Project Neon construction.

NDOT says the closure was announced as part of their weekly alerts, but that they don't usually announce individual lane closures because there would be so many of them.

NDOT spokesman Tony Illia says they post closures, but if drivers want to avoid closures, they should pay attention to social media, because the closures are going to continue.
