Nevada Attorney General Adam Paul Laxalt announced the appointment Wednesday of Arlene Rivera as ombudsman for the Office of the Nevada Attorney General.

Arlene Rivera has a long and established career of working with various non-profit organizations to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse.

In her capacity as an ombudsman, Rivera will be the Office of the Nevada Attorney General’s liaison for issues related to domestic and intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and exploitation and human trafficking.

She will act as a state-level coordinator of system-wide improvements in the prevention and intervention of these crimes, and will work to increase accountability for perpetrators.

Her duties will include oversight of the Nevada Council for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, the Attorney General’s Domestic Violence Fatality Review Committee, and the Committee on Domestic Violence Batterers’ Treatment.
