Firefighters responded to a small fire at a local Walmart early Sunday morning.

Around 2:45 a.m., wood pallets and cardboard boxes were on fire in the garden section at the rear of the store at 201 N. Nellis Boulevard, near Stewart Avenue. Three automatic fire sprinklers kept the fire under control until firefighters arrived and put the fire completely out. The fire sprinklers prevented the fire from entering the store.

This was not a 24-hour Walmart. The store had closed around midnight.

While there was no damage to the interior of the store, there was still $5,000 in damages.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

There were no reported injuries.
