LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — More pets run away from home over the 4th of July holiday than any other holiday.
The Animal Foundation is expecting an influx of dogs and cats and other animals over the next few days.
Cathy Brooks, owner of the Hydrant Club, says throughout the weekend there will most likely still be sound sounds of fireworks.
If this is the case, you can protect your pet by finding a safe space for your pet and making sure all doors and windows are locked.
Brooks says it's important pet owners stay calm because often time pets mirror what they see their owners do and your pet should always have a i.d. around their neck.

Unfortunately, only about 30% of the runaways will be reunited with their families.
