A woman says her dog died only hours after she gave him CESAR Classics Filet Mignon pet food.

"It's hard because it took me so long to find him. And then for him to die like that... It's really sad," said the woman. "You never think that dog food is really going to hurt your baby."

The product from Mars Petcare was recalled on Oct. 7 after hard white pieces of plastic entered the food during the production process.

Consumers are advised to discard the food or return it to the retailer for a full refund or exchange. The lot codes for the recalled products begin with 631FKKC and 631GKKC, and the Best Before dates include Aug. 4, 2018, and Aug. 5, 2018.
