Apps help block spam callers

Posted

Some apps are promising to give consumers some relief from telemarketing and other unwanted calls.

Time.com picked Mr. Number as the best app for stopping cell phone spam. Some calls and texts are blocked automatically. Others need to be entered manually and some can also be classified as a reported spam number. People have the preference of having the call disconnected or sent to their voice mail.

Time also said the app Truecaller is best at identifying callers. The number goes through their database of more than a billion numbers and displays who it is. Some are identified as spam and automatically flagged.

Both apps offer basic free versions.
