LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas resident Mark Hoppe says living near the Clark County Wetlands Park has gone from a beautiful and peaceful area to a constant headache due to regular helicopter tours flying directly over his home.

"If you buy a house near the airport you're going to expect airport noise but when you buy a house out here but the Wetlands you don't expect that kind of noise," Hoppe said.

13 Action News checked, and unfortunately, it's not as easy as just re-routing the tours.

Chopper 13 pilot, Hans Deduytsche, flew helicopter tours for years. He said planning behind the routes is a coordinated effort between multiple agencies.

"There's a letter of agreement between the FAA, the ATC and all the operators where they determine this is the best path for everybody," Deduytsche said.

However, this doesn't mean you are just out of luck if dealing with a similar situation. If a resident has a concern about aircraft noise, a 24-hour aviation noise hotline is available at 702-261-3694.
